About Jennifer M. Butler

I'm Jennifer M. Butler, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC-S) dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate life's challenges. With over 20 years of experience, I've had the privilege of working in diverse settings, including community mental health, the foster care system, private practice, and public schools. I graduated from Ashland Theological Seminary in 2004, the same year I became a licensed counselor.

My Approach to Counseling

My primary therapeutic approach is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which focuses on understanding how your thoughts, feelings, and actions are interconnected. I believe that by exploring these dynamics, we can work together to foster healing and improve your life.

Beyond CBT, I integrate various methods to create a personalized and effective experience for each client. These include:

  • Expressive Arts: Utilizing creative outlets for self-expression.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT): Emphasizing practical solutions and future-oriented goals.
  • Play Therapy: Especially beneficial for younger clients to explore emotions and develop coping skills.
  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT): Incorporating mindfulness techniques to enhance self-awareness and manage stress.
  • Motivational Interviewing: Supporting you in finding your inner motivation for change.
  • Positive Psychology: Focusing on your strengths and well-being.
  • Trauma-Focused Therapy: Providing specialized support for processing and recovering from traumatic experiences
  • Christian Counseling: Offering faith-based guidance for those who desire it.

My goal for every session is for you to leave with a new coping skill, motivation for a small positive change, and the feeling that you've been truly heard and understood.
